Terrance “DJ Bay” Long has spent more than two decades building a career in music and entertainment. A Memphis native, award-winning DJ, radio personality, and entrepreneur, his experience stretches from nightclubs and festival stages to recording studios, broadcast radio, and corporate events. Along the way, he has worked with artists, entertained audiences across the country, and established himself as a familiar name in Memphis nightlife.

His story begins at home.

Bay grew up surrounded by music. His father was a DJ, his mother sang gospel, and he played saxophone during his school years. His early exposure to different styles of music gave him an appreciation for everything from R&B and soul to hip-hop and the Southern sounds that have long been part of Memphis culture.

He began DJing professionally in 2004. What started with local opportunities developed into a career built through years of performances, relationships, and steady work in the entertainment industry.

Building a Career in Memphis

Memphis nightlife has been a major part of Bay's professional life. Over the years, he has performed at numerous venues throughout the city while establishing several successful weekly residencies.

His longest-running residency is Classic Soulz, where he has been the DJ for Cashout Saturdays since 2018. The weekly event has remained a fixture in his schedule through changing nightlife trends, audiences, and venues across the city.

Bay also holds residencies at In Love Memphis (Love) and Echelon, where he created Love Language: A Night of R&B. His other original event concepts include Dranksgiving, an annual celebration that has become part of his Memphis entertainment calendar.

Although R&B remains a major part of his musical identity, Bay is an open-format DJ whose work includes hip-hop, Southern soul, old-school favorites, and music from across generations.

His performances are not limited to nightclubs. Bay has worked at weddings, private celebrations, community functions, festivals, and corporate events. His professional event experience includes engagements for Google, Boost Mobile, American Esoteric Laboratories (AEL), and the City of Memphis.

He is also the premier DJ for the Memphis Mimosa Festival, with headlining appearances in Memphis and Nashville.

Beyond the Turntables

Before many audiences knew him through nightlife and festivals, Bay was developing experience on the business and recording sides of the music industry.

At Select-O-Hits, the Memphis-based music distribution company, he worked in A&R, audio engineering, and digital marketing, including responsibilities as Head of Digital Marketing. His work brought him into contact with artists, producers, and other music professionals while providing experience in recording, music promotion, and artist development.

Radio became another important part of his career.

Bay served as a mixshow DJ on Memphis' Hot 107.1 FM from 2020 to 2025 and joined K97 in 2026. He also created and hosted The DJ Bay Radio Show on Radio Memphis, taking on production and marketing responsibilities in addition to his work on air.

His radio experience includes a weekly R&B mixshow on LITT Live, appearances on Foxy 106.9 in St. Louis, and a featured guest DJ appearance on Sway in the Morning on SiriusXM's Shade 45 in 2021.

Bay is also a member of DJ Whoo Kid's Shadyville DJs Worldwide, connecting him with a national network of DJs and music professionals.

A Different Kind of Connection During the Pandemic

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought much of the live entertainment industry to a standstill. Nightclubs closed, public gatherings were restricted, and DJs who had built their careers performing in front of people suddenly found themselves without their usual audiences.

For Bay, the shutdown became an unexpected turning point.

He began broadcasting live DJ sessions on Facebook, bringing music directly into people's homes at a time when opportunities to gather and socialize were limited. The broadcasts developed into themed events, including Auntie Fridays, giving viewers a regular place to hear music, interact, and spend time together online.

What began during an extraordinarily difficult period introduced Bay to listeners well beyond Memphis. His livestreams reached people across the country, including viewers who returned regularly and became part of the online audience.

The experience also revealed how much those gatherings meant to some of the people watching. Bay received messages from listeners who said the broadcasts helped them cope with loneliness, stress, and the emotional weight of the pandemic. For people isolated from friends, family, and their usual routines, the sessions offered entertainment, familiarity, and an opportunity to connect with others.

It became one of the most significant periods of his career, expanding his audience while showing how a DJ could remain connected to a community even when live performances were no longer possible.

Awards and Recognition

Bay's career has earned recognition from several entertainment organizations in Memphis and the surrounding region.

In 2026, he received the SCM Best Club DJ/Event DJ of the Year award. He is also a three-time consecutive Male DJ of the Year winner at the Memphis Elegance Awards, receiving the honor in 2024, 2025, and 2026.

His additional recognition includes the 2023 DJ Johnny O Legend Award and DJ of the Year honors from the Memphis Hip-Hop Awards.

Bay has also received nominations from the Southern Entertainment Awards (SEA Awards), Best in Black Awards, and Memphis Best Awards, reflecting recognition across multiple segments of the local and regional entertainment industry.

His work has appeared on regional and national platforms, including SiriusXM and Sway in the Morning, and his music programming has also been featured at Memphis International Airport.
